Capturing golf from the ground up

My name is Calum Smith and I am a golf course photographer specialising in capturing the game from a golfer’s perspective.

Rather than focusing on traditional marketing photography, my work is centred on how a course actually feels to play - standing on the tee, shaping a shot into a fairway, or approaching a green framed by its natural surroundings. I aim to document the strategy, character and atmosphere that defines each hole as experienced on the ground.

I collaborate with golf clubs across the UK, providing high-quality photography in exchange for course access and playing opportunities. This approach allows me to immerse myself in each course and capture it authentically, while delivering clubs a library of images they can use across their website, social media and wider communications.

Each project is approached with a focus on simplicity, composition and natural light, highlighting the unique landscape and design of every course. From heathland and parklands layouts to more rugged terrain, my goal is always the same: to present the course as it is truly experienced by golfers.

Based in the south of England, I am continually building a growing collection of courses that celebrate the diversity and beauty of golf throughout the UK.
